ASUS has unveiled the 2026 TUF Gaming 16, updating its mainstream gaming laptop lineup with Intel's latest Core Ultra processors. It also includes NVIDIA RTX 50-series graphics, new display options and an upgraded cooling system. The laptop is designed for gamers, creators and power users seeking high-end performance without moving into the company's premium ROG range.
The new TUF Gaming 16 is driven by Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus CPUs at their upper limits, while graphics card options include a maximum of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU.
The specs also include ray tracing and DLSS 4 capabilities, which is NVIDIA’s artificial intelligence upscaling technology for gaming.
According to ASUS, these technologies will enable the new TUF Gaming 16 to run games alongside content creation tasks like video editing and 3D modeling.
One of the major new features of the 2026 model is the inclusion of an option for a 16-inch 2.5K OLED screen with a refresh rate of 165Hz. The screen delivers more intense black levels and higher contrast than an average LCD screen.
Another feature that the company will be offering users is an option for a 2.5K IPS screen with a refresh rate of 300 Hz. This screen is primarily aimed at competitive gamers who seek better performance in fast-paced games.
ASUS has improved the cooling system of the TUF Gaming 16 to deal with the additional power of the newly installed components.
The cooling system includes second-generation Arc Flow Fans, a full-length rear heatsink and revamped air channels. According to ASUS, the new configuration will maintain the performance of the device throughout the gaming session and keep the temperatures down in the machine's case.
Gaming laptop companies have paid special attention to improving the cooling systems lately, as the modern processors and graphics require more power than ever before.
The maximum RAM capacity of the device is 64GB of DDR5 memory, whereas the maximum storage capacity is up to 4TB of PCIe Gen 4 SSDs. Users can add additional capacity by upgrading through expandable ports.
The TUF Gaming 16 is equipped with a 90Wh battery and USB-C charging capabilities that enable users to charge their systems even without a conventional power supply.
