The Assassin’s Creed franchise is again in the limelight. Fresh leaks about Assassin’s Creed Hexe are giving fans a clearer idea of what Ubisoft may be planning next. This time, the series may move away from large wars and huge battlefields. Instead, Hexe could focus on fear, mystery, and survival.

The game is rumored to have a much darker mood than earlier Assassin’s Creed titles. Many fans online are already calling it one of the creepiest ideas Ubisoft has tried for the franchise. While the developer team has not confirmed every detail, the leaks suggest Hexe may explore one of the darkest periods in European history.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe Leaks Reveal Hero, Timeline, and Creepy New Setting

When the gaming studio revealed the game's codename, players already knew the storyline would be set during the Holy Roman Empire's Witch Trials. To fuel these speculations, the latest leaks revealed the protagonist's name and origin. Recently, a renowned leaker, Rogue (not completely trustworthy, though), has claimed that the protagonist’s name isn’t Elsa but Anika and that the game is set during the Wurzburg Witch Trials of 1625-163.

Leaks also suggest that the game will have blood pacts and poison. Even players will have activities to find ritual sites and recover stolen relics. The leakers also suggested that the game will probably focus more on stealth and tension than on nonstop combat. Players could spend more time hiding, escaping danger, and exploring smaller, mysterious areas.

Some rumors even mention strange visions and horror-style moments. Still, the game is expected to stay connected to real history instead of using actual magic. The title ‘Hexe’ itself means ‘witch’ in German, which matches the game’s dark setting.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe May Explore Real European Witch Panic Like Never Before

The Wurzburg Witch Trials of 1625-1631 were the largest witch trials in history. Not only that, it was one of the biggest mass trials and executions to ever happen in Europe. However, a handful of games have covered this trial period. That’s one of the primary reasons Hexe feels different from the older Assassin’s Creed games.

During the witch hunts, thousands of people were accused of witchcraft. Fear spread across many towns, and innocent people were punished because of rumors and panic. If Ubisoft handles the story carefully, Hexe could become one of the most emotional games in the series.

The darker tone may also help the franchise feel fresh again after many open-world entries that followed a similar style.

Could Assassin’s Creed Hexe Be the Perfect Follow-Up to Assassin’s Creed Shadows?

Assassin’s Creed Shadows focused heavily on action and stealth in feudal Japan. Hexe now looks ready to take the franchise in a slower and darker direction. Instead of giant battles, the game may focus more on fear, survival, and emotional storytelling.

If Ubisoft balances history, suspense, and classic Assassin’s Creed gameplay properly, Hexe could become one of the series’ most memorable games in years.
