OpenAI introduced iCloud Mail and Calendar plugins for ChatGPT on October 27, 2026, allowing users to connect Apple services. The integration brings email search, inbox assistance and calendar management to ChatGPT on web, desktop and iOS. It also extends support for ChatGPT’s proactive Dot agents, which can work with connected services to help users manage everyday tasks.

The two plugins require separate connections and an Apple app-specific password rather than a regular Apple Account password. Once connected, ChatGPT can find emails, summarize conversations, draft replies and manage email drafts. The Calendar plugin can check schedules and create, read or update events, while both plugins support read-only contact lookups.

What the New Plugins Can Do

The iCloud Mail integration helps users locate messages and catch up on conversations without manually searching their inboxes. It can also draft and send emails, giving ChatGPT a more direct role in everyday communication. Calendar access lets the assistant review upcoming commitments and make changes to supported events.

The update may prove especially useful for people who rely on Apple’s services rather than Gmail or Google Calendar. ChatGPT users can connect the tools through the app settings, subject to availability and workspace controls. Each plugin works independently, so connecting Mail does not automatically authorize Calendar access.

Passwords and Account Limits Matter

Users must generate an app-specific password through Apple before connecting either service. The password should go into the plugin’s secure connection flow, never into a regular ChatGPT conversation. Mail connections support addresses ending in @icloud.com, @me.com or @mac.com, while Calendar uses the primary email address associated with the Apple Account.

The integration only accesses iCloud Mail through its dedicated plugin. Other accounts inside Apple’s Mail app, including Gmail and Outlook, require separate connections. Availability may also depend on workspace settings and the rollout status for each account.

The launch brings Apple’s email and scheduling tools closer to ChatGPT’s connected workflow. Its practical value will depend on how reliably the plugins support users’ daily tasks.
