Apple could enter the smart glasses market in 2027 with a wearable built around artificial intelligence. Reports say Apple smart glasses may combine cameras, microphones, speakers and Siri without placing a screen inside the lenses.
Apple has not announced the device, so its design, features and launch date could change. Reports point to a possible preview at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June 2027, followed by sales later that year.
Reports say the first Apple smart glasses could use cameras and Visual Intelligence to examine the wearer’s surroundings. Siri could answer questions about nearby objects, buildings or places after receiving visual information from the glasses.
Users may also be able to translate signs and printed text through voice commands. Another reported tool could let Siri save an image and create a reminder linked to it. For example, a wearer could ask the assistant to remember a product or location for later.
Unlike augmented reality glasses, the reported device may not project directions, messages or graphics onto the lenses. Apple could instead rely on spoken answers and audio feedback. Built-in speakers may support music, phone calls and other audio, giving the glasses a second role as open-ear headphones.
Apple is reportedly designing the eyewear internally rather than working with an established glasses brand. The company has tested large and slim rectangular frames, along with oval and circular versions, according to reports based on unnamed sources.
The frames could use acetate, a material that eyewear makers often choose for premium products. Reported finishes include black, ocean blue and light brown. Apple has not confirmed the final materials, colors or frame shapes.
Camera privacy may shape the final product. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has reported that Apple considered limiting normal photo and video recording. One possible model would use cameras mainly to provide visual input for Siri rather than offer a regular shutter function.
Separate reports also suggest Apple has tested camera-free designs. Therefore, readers should treat claims that the final glasses will include cameras with caution. Apple may add visible recording signals or other controls if it keeps camera hardware, although the company has not detailed any safeguards.
Apple may introduce the glasses at WWDC 2027, giving developers time to prepare apps and services before the product ships. Current reports place the commercial release in late 2027, with September discussed as a possible sales window.
That schedule is not official. Apple has not publicly confirmed the product, the reported N50 internal code name or any release event. Development plans can move when hardware, software or privacy requirements change. Pricing, battery life, regional availability and iPhone requirements are still unknown.
Health tools may come later. Apple is reportedly studying heart-rate monitoring and fitness software for future models, but reports do not expect those functions in the first generation. The initial version appears focused on Siri, visual questions, translation and audio.
If the reported plan holds, Apple smart glasses would sit closer to AI camera glasses than to the Vision Pro headset. The product would offer a lighter wearable for quick information, calls and audio, while leaving screen-based augmented reality for a later device.
