Apple has released iOS 26.4 Beta 4 for developers and public beta users. The update arrived in early March as testing continues for the next iPhone software version. The latest iOS update mainly improves existing features and fixes minor issues.
The most visible change in iOS 26.4 Beta 4 is the arrival of several new emojis. Apple has added fresh icons to the emoji keyboard. The list includes a trombone, treasure chest, distorted face, hairy creature, fight cloud, orca, and landslide. These emojis follow the latest Unicode update, giving users more options when chatting or posting online.
iOS 26.4 Beta 4 also adds new skin tone choices for people wrestling and for dancers with bunny ears. The ballet dancer emoji now includes a gender neutral version. These small changes make emojis more inclusive.
Another change in the accessibility settings is the renaming of the ‘Reduce Highlighting Effects’ feature to ‘Reduce Bright Effects.’ This feature reduces bright flashes and strong highlights on the screen, making the screen feel softer and easier on the eyes. The system applies this effect when someone taps buttons or types on the keyboard.
Messaging also received a minor change in iOS 26.4 Beta 4. Apple removed the testing option for encrypted RCS messaging in this version. Previous beta releases tested end-to-end encryption for RCS chats between iPhones and Android devices. Apple confirmed that the feature will arrive in a later update.
RCS messaging still plays an important role in Apple’s future plans. When encryption arrives, text messages between iPhone and Android users will receive stronger privacy protection. iMessage already provides encrypted communication on Apple devices.
The update introduces new device compatibility. iOS 26.4 Beta 4 works on the new iPhone 17e and the latest M4 iPad Air. Developers can now test apps and system performance on these devices during the beta phase.
Apple also continues to refine features that appeared in previous beta builds. The updates include enhanced Apple Music functions, improved video podcast playback, and advanced security features for devices.
Overall, iOS 26.4 Beta 4 focuses more on stability than massive feature reveals. Apple aims to improve performance and remove bugs before public release. Each beta version moves the Apple iOS update closer to the final launch.
The final version of iOS 26.4 may arrive soon once testing ends and Apple finishes the last adjustments.
