Apple is all set to bring a broad iPad refresh in the first half of 2027. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the tech giant may launch updated iPad Air, iPad Pro, and entry-level iPad models.
The report follows Apple’s recent launch of a new iPad mini with an OLED display. If the latest timeline holds, the tech giant will extend several premium iPad features across its wider tablet range next year.
The upcoming iPad Air is expected to adopt an OLED display. The change would bring deeper blacks, improved contrast, and potentially better power efficiency to Apple’s mid-range tablet. The model is also likely to receive an M5 chip. This places iPad Air closer to the latest Mac silicon generation and improves performance for creative, productivity, and AI-led workloads.
Apple may equip the next iPad Pro with an M6 chip. The company is also reportedly testing a vapor chamber cooling system that may help the tablet sustain high performance for longer durations.
A vapor chamber spreads heat more evenly across the device. For professionals using video editing, 3D design, coding, or demanding AI applications, the change could reduce thermal throttling during long work sessions.
The rumored iPad 12 could receive an A19 chip and Apple Intelligence support. The tablet may also include an N1 chip with Wi‑Fi 7 support. Cellular variants could use a power-efficient C1X modem, strengthening the company’s move toward more in-house wireless technology. However, final launch dates, pricing, and specifications are yet to be confirmed.
