Apple has introduced a redesigned Apple Music icon in iOS 27.2 beta 4, released to developers on October 13. The update replaces the service’s familiar red branding with a monochrome design and introduces other visual changes throughout the iPhone app. These updates introduce visual changes to Apple Music, including a monochrome icon and blue interface accents.
The new Apple Music icon adapts to the device’s appearance settings, using black and white in opposite combinations. Light Mode displays a black music note on a white background, while Dark Mode switches to a white note on a black background. Apple has also adjusted the music symbol, giving it a sharper, more angular appearance.
The iOS 27.2 beta 4 update extends beyond the home screen icon, changing several familiar elements inside Apple Music. The active tab now uses blue highlighting instead of the previous red or pink accents. Music settings also replace red text and highlights with blue elements.
Apple Music widgets have adopted black backgrounds, moving away from the service’s recognizable red and pink appearance. The Library section receives similar treatment, with Playlists, Albums, Artists and Songs using black-and-white icons. Together, these changes create a more restrained interface across the app.
The redesign follows Apple’s recent introduction of a refreshed Apple Music logo, which appeared in an earlier iOS 27.2 beta. The latest changes suggest that the company is gradually aligning the app’s branding across its ecosystem.
However, the new icon and interface remain part of a developer beta. Apple could adjust or reverse some design choices before the stable iOS 27.2 release. The update’s final appearance may therefore differ from the current testing version.
For now, iPhone users enrolled in developer testing can examine the new Apple Music design. The changes focus on visual consistency rather than announcing new music streaming features.
