Apple has now released the iOS 18.2 update, and a new set of Apple Intelligence features available on Apple devices like iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This update, part of the release plan that commenced with iOS 18, is a revolution to employ artificial intelligence in the Apple ecosystem.
The new release aims to target users with devices that support English localization in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the USA. The additional features will be launched in the EU by April.
The latest update is packed with new AI-based features meant to improve user experience on all Apple products. Such tools include Genmoji, an Image Playground, and a camera feature called Visual Intelligence. These features are meant to make frequent tasks much more efficient and enhance the ways Apple devices can be used to interact with and manage media.
Some of the improvements in iOS 18.2 include the Image Playground, and the Describe Your Change option under the Writing Tools. Image Playground enables users to produce images using text or photographic prompts, offering a new perspective on using media. The feature, Describe Your Change, is based on Writing Tools – it lets users indicate how exactly the text should be rewritten, for instance, making the language more enthusiastic or changing the words clearer.
Visual Intelligence is another major enhancement brought about by this update. It turns the Camera into an even more useful feature, translating signs in real time and offering all sorts of information about the painting with a glance. This feature, however, is available only for the latest products, such as iPhone 16 and new iPad and Mac with the M1 chip.
Apple has suggested that making AI features progressive and further updates will be equally orientated to make Siri smarter and more sensitive to users. The upcoming enhancements that are expected are onscreen awareness, and Siri will be able to do hundreds of new things not only in Apple native apps but also in third-party apps. Furthermore, Image Playground is expected to get an update that will add Sketch style, thus extending the artistic freedom of the users.
