Amazon has launched a new Fire TV mobile application for Android and iOS users in India. The update introduces a new interface design and enables users to explore content and create watchlists on their mobile devices.
The new design mirrors the interface available on Amazon Fire TV devices connected to televisions. The update, which Amazon launched in the United States last month, is now available in multiple countries, including India, the UK, Canada, Brazil, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, and Spain.
The updated application now includes five navigation tabs, which users can find at the bottom of the screen. The Remote tab continues to act as a virtual remote for Fire TV devices. Users can navigate menus and control playback and typing on their phone's keyboard, which many find easier than entering text with a TV remote.
The Home tab displays an identical user interface to what Fire TV shows on its attached television screen. The system presents two types of content: recommended material and the shows users have recently viewed.
The Search tab enables users to find movies and television shows through various streaming services, which they can access from their mobile devices. Users can access content more quickly by searching for shows through their applications rather than using the TV remote.
Users can save movies and shows to their Watchlist on their phone, then watch the saved content on Fire TV later. The Account tab provides access to user profiles, system preferences, and additional account management features.

The Fire TV mobile application served as a secondary remote control, which people turned to when they lost their main remote.
The application now serves as a companion tool to help users explore content as they build their viewing schedule. Users can search for titles to add to their watchlist and later open them on their television.
The project enables Amazon to create services that compete with Google TV, allowing users to search for and control their watchlists on their mobile devices.
