Twitter CEO Elon Musk to Make Users' App Experience More Refined from Long-Form Tweets

Elon Musk's Twitter to Make Users' App Experience More Refined – Twitter CEO Elon Musk has announced that Twitter will introduce new changes to its user interface for making the user experience more refined. The company will let its users swipe between followed and recommended tweets with simple right and left gestures. The complete design change will roll out later this week although it remains unclear whether it is a targeted rollout or all Twitter users will receive it.

Additionally, Elon musk has announced that long-form of tweets will roll out in early February.

Twitter currently allows its users to view tweets in two ways. Users can access "for you" and "latest" options by clicking the star button at the top right of the Twitter homepage. The "for you" option displays the recommended tweets," while the "latest" option shows the most recent tweets from accounts you follow.

According to Musk's tweet, the company is not removing these options, but it is improving the interface so that users can view the most recent tweets from followed accounts or recommended tweets with simple swipe gestures.

Twitter, on the other hand, already uses left and right swipe gestures to allow users to switch between Twitter lists, which contain tweets from various accounts. Twitter List allows users to follow accounts that they are not currently following. It can assist users in following tweets of their interest without necessarily following multiple accounts.

Aside from the UI change, Musk has also stated that Twitter will improve the bookmark feature, which he describes as "de facto silent like." The Bookmark option allows users to bookmark a tweet to view later on a dedicated tab, which is already available on the app for Android and iOS, as well as the web client.

The Bookmark function is currently accessible via the share button on a tweet. Musk stated late last year that, unlike likes, bookmarked tweets will remain private, through the platform. And will also allow users to create folders to save tweets into various categories. Musk suggested last week that if someone Bookmarks a tweet, it will likely be added to the total like count. He also stated in a tweet that "Both public and non-public likes (aka bookmarks) should be counted in the like count. The bookmark button should be visible in the main tweet view."

A long-form tweet is perhaps the most intriguing upcoming feature. Originally, Twitter users could share their thoughts and opinions in 140 characters in the APP. Later, in 2018 the company raised the limit to 280. Although Musk did not specify the character count in his most recent tweet, he did say in a post in December 2022 that the platform may allow users to post tweets of up to 4000 characters.
