Apple’s M4 MacBook Air: Improved Performance, Dual Monitor Support and More

Apple M4 MacBook Air Releasing in March 2025: Improved Performance, Dual Monitor Support & More

Written By : Somatirtha

Apple is set to launch its newest MacBook Air Series, driven by the brand-new M4 chip, in March this year.

Famed for innovation in performance, efficiency, and AI-based updates, Apple’s MacBook Pro family has raised expectations, and Apple’s upcoming Macbook Air Series promises to do no less.

MacBook Air with M4: What to Expect

Apple is said to release M4-powered Macbook Air models in both 13-inch and 15-inch sizes at the same time. Marketing, sales, and retail preparations are underway, further pointing towards an imminent release. The declining stock of current M2 and M3 MacBook Air Models also points towards an impending shift.

Apple’s Macbook Air has been light and thin from the beginning, and the upcoming M4-driven models should be no different.

Due to hit shelves in March, the new MacBook Air should maintain the sleek, thin body that debuted with the M2 versions but add on some of the advanced features offered by the MacBook Pro series.

One of the most significant enhancements would be support for connecting two external displays at once while leaving the lid of the MacBook open. This feature will be coveted by multitaskers who mostly depend on multiple screens to optimise their workflow.

Apple can improve its camera with center stage technology so that users remain in the middle of the screen during video calls. Such features would make MacBook Air more convenient and user-friendly for students and professionals.

Apple M4 MacBook Air: An Excellent Performance Upgrade

Apple's new MacBook Air is to offer a massive performance upgrade, making it one of the most powerful computers in the world.

The M4 chip will be faster than the competition, with a 1.5 X more powerful CPU than the M2 chip and almost 1.8x faster processing than the first M1 chip.

Increased Graphics and Processing Capacity

In addition to raw processing capacity, the M4 chip also introduces an enormous 3.4x boost in graphics-intensive tasks like rendering, video editing, and gaming.

This makes the MacBook Air an attractive option for creative professionals like graphics designers, filmmakers, and content creators who need high-performance computing in a portable package.

The upgraded graphics performance can also improve the gaming experience on macOS, a sector where Apple has been increasingly bridging the gap.

Closing the Gap Between MacBook Air and MacBook Pro

With such a large performance boost, the M4-powered MacBook Air could blur the lines between the Air and Pro models, giving users a thin laptop without sacrificing power. This change could entice professionals and students who require a high-performance machine without the weight of a MacBook Pro.

As Apple continues to advance, the MacBook Air is being reshaped from an entry-level travel notebook to a powerhouse.

The new MacBook Air models could potentially introduce some other improvements, such as:

  • Thunderbolt 4 ports for quicker connectivity

  • Center Stage camera for enhanced video calls

  • Optional nano-texture display for enhanced glare reduction

  • 16GB base RAM to keep pace with the recent MacBook Pro update

No sweeping design overhauls are on the cards, but these upgrades may make Apple's streamlined laptop experience even sharper.
