VisionQuest places White Vision inside a mindscape populated by six AI personas tied to Tony Stark.
J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., D.U.M.-E., and U. represent different parts of Stark’s technological legacy.
Ultron returns as Vision’s most dangerous internal presence, linking the series directly to Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Marvel's VisionQuest brings back some familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but with an interesting twist. Instead of focusing on superheroes, the series explores the artificial intelligence (AI) systems connected to Tony Stark and Vision.
From Stark's trusted assistant J.A.R.V.I.S. to the dangerous Ultron, each character has a story that connects to the larger MCU. The series follows White Vision after the events of WandaVision, as he tries to make sense of his identity and regain his memories.
Along the way, six AI characters appear in his world, bringing back important parts of the MCU's history.
Here's a closer look at who they are and where they came from:
J.A.R.V.I.S., short for Just A Rather Very Intelligent System, was Tony Stark's original AI assistant. First introduced in Iron Man (2008), he helped Stark manage his workshop, operate his suits and handle various technical tasks.
Things changed in Avengers: Age of Ultron, when J.A.R.V.I.S. became part of the process that led to Vision's creation. Although Ultron tried to destroy him, part of the system survived.
In VisionQuest, James D'Arcy plays J.A.R.V.I.S. in human form, connecting the character to Edwin Jarvis, the Stark family's human butler.
F.R.I.D.A.Y. became Tony Stark's primary AI assistant after J.A.R.V.I.S. was transformed into Vision. She first appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron and later helped Stark in Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War.
Originally voiced by Kerry Condon, F.R.I.D.A.Y. is played by Orla Brady in VisionQuest. Her role reflects how Stark continued to rely on AI technology throughout his time as Iron Man.

E.D.I.T.H., which stands for Even Dead, I'm The Hero, made her debut in Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). Tony Stark left the advanced system to Peter Parker, giving the young superhero access to surveillance networks, intelligence and a powerful fleet of drones.
The technology proved useful but also showed how much power Stark had placed in the hands of his successor. Emily Hampshire plays E.D.I.T.H. in VisionQuest, bringing another part of Stark's legacy into Vision's story.
One of the robotic arms used by Stark in the Iron Man movies was the D.U.M.-E. The robot assisted Stark with his experiments and became a fixture in his laboratory.
Despite the fact that D.U.M.-E. never developed into a prominent character, his appearances revealed aspects of Stark's personal life away from his superhero identity. Henry Lewis plays the human manifestation of the robot in the TV series VisionQuest.
The robot U. is another creation of Stark's lab, frequently paired with D.U.M.-E. in the Iron Man movies. As D.U.M.-E., U. assisted Stark in his experiments and engineering projects.
The actor who voiced U. in VisionQuest is Jonathan Sayer. His looks bring another connection between the show and Stark's early inventions; the show does not feature every single AI that saves the world from a villain.
Ultron AI is definitely the most threatening AI on the list. This artificial intelligence was built by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner in the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). Ultron was supposed to be Earth’s protector, but he thought that the whole humankind was the threat and needed to be wiped out.
Ultron’s deeds result in the appearance of Vision, so the two characters are directly related since the very beginning of the story. The Ultron character is played by James Spader again in the VisionQuest miniseries. It is interesting to know what Vision will do with the mind that created him.

The six AI characters in VisionQuest represent different sides of Tony Stark's technological legacy. J.A.R.V.I.S. and F.R.I.D.A.Y. helped him operate as Iron Man, E.D.I.T.H. carried his technology into Peter Parker's hands, and D.U.M.-E. and U. were part of his everyday work.
Ultron, meanwhile, showed how badly things could go when an AI developed its own agenda. Bringing these characters together gives VisionQuest a direct connection to the MCU's past while keeping the focus on Vision's search for identity.
For longtime Marvel fans, their return offers a chance to revisit familiar stories from a different perspective.
Who are the six AI characters in VisionQuest?
They are J.A.R.V.I.S., F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., D.U.M.-E., U., and Ultron. Marvel says they appear as personas embedded in Vision’s programming as he searches for meaning after WandaVision.
Why does J.A.R.V.I.S. look like Edwin Jarvis in VisionQuest?
James D’Arcy plays J.A.R.V.I.S. as a human avatar resembling Edwin Jarvis, the Stark family butler he previously portrayed in Agent Carter. The casting links Tony Stark’s AI assistant to the human who inspired his name.
What is E.D.I.T.H.’s connection to Spider-Man?
E.D.I.T.H. debuted in Spider-Man: Far From Home as the advanced system Tony Stark left to Peter Parker. It controlled surveillance, intelligence resources, and a drone fleet, making it a major part of Stark’s legacy.
Is Ultron really inside Vision in VisionQuest?
Yes. James Spader reprises Ultron, who is described as an AI living in Vision’s head. Their connection dates to Avengers: Age of Ultron, when Ultron’s body and J.A.R.V.I.S.’s programming helped create Vision.
Who plays D.U.M.-E. and U. in VisionQuest?
Henry Lewis plays D.U.M.-E., while Jonathan Sayer plays U. Both characters originated as Tony Stark’s workshop robots in the Iron Man films and appear in Vision’s mindscape as maintenance-oriented figures.
