As of August 7, 2026, XRP trades around $1.03 with a decline of 1.53% in the last 24 hours and 3.85% in the past seven days, consolidating after a subdued July that saw prices largely confined between $1.05 and $1.12. The token remains well below its 50-day and 200-day moving averages near $1.11 and $1.36, reflecting ongoing caution.

Technical Structure and Seasonal Headwinds

August is the flattest month in XRP’s history, averaging a return of just 0.43%. The token has closed the month lower for four straight years, which makes this the longest active losing streak of any month in its history.

Last August, the XRP price dropped by 8%. July has closed in the green every year since 2020, rising about 10% on average. Although this July made it the seventh consecutive year XRP has closed the month positive, the coin gained just 2%, closing the month at $1.06 with a $1.04 starting price. XRP can still move but with a steady catalyst.

XRP price trades at $1.03 this Friday with a bearish near-term bias, as the price stays well under the 50-day, 100-day, and 200-day EMAs at about $1.11, $1.19, and $1.38, respectively.

The RSI at 37.38 is hovering just above the oversold zone, while the MACD holds below zero with a negative line, pointing to fading momentum, with no clear hint of a reversal.

For the upside, the first resistance zone lines up with the 50-day EMA near $1.11, then comes the 100-day EMA around $1.19, followed by the flat barrier near $1.30.

On the downside, near-term support sits around the psychological and structural base at $1.00, and if price breaks down through it decisively, it would likely open the door to further bearish moves.

ETF Flows, Regulatory Delays, and Sentiment

According to SoSoValue, XRP spot ETFs recorded $3.4506 million in net inflows. The spot XRP ETF with the largest net inflow was Bitwise XRP ETF, with a net inflow of $2.889 million, and its historical total net inflows have reached $510 million. The next was the Franklin XRP ETF (XRPZ), with a net inflow of $561.6 thousand.

The CLARITY Act remains the primary catalyst. Senate Majority Leader John Thune confirmed the floor vote has been delayed but said the measure is expected to be considered once the Senate returns after the August recess.

“The Dems are insistent on no CLARITY vote… I worked with sponsors of the bill. Senator Lummis was great, and we’re getting that queued up first thing when we come back,” Thune said.

Traders are closely watching the $1.03 support zone, with short-term long setups targeting $1.18 and longer-term voices emphasizing the need to reclaim $1.60 for any structural shift. Sentiment remains mixed, balancing accumulation near support against the absence of immediate catalysts.

Overall, August 2026 is likely to deliver range-bound trading rather than a decisive move. Holders and traders should monitor the $1.05 support and volume on any attempt above $1.22.

FAQs

1. Why is XRP struggling to move higher in August 2026?

XRP continues to trade below its major moving averages, reflecting weak momentum and cautious investor sentiment. The absence of a major near-term catalyst has kept the token trading within a narrow range.

2. What are the key support and resistance levels for XRP?

The immediate support lies around $1.00-$1.03, while resistance is seen near $1.11, $1.19, and $1.30. A sustained move above these levels could improve the technical outlook.

3. How could the CLARITY Act impact XRP?

If passed, the CLARITY Act could provide greater regulatory clarity for digital assets in the US, potentially improving institutional confidence and supporting broader adoption of XRP-related investment products.

4. Are XRP ETFs attracting institutional interest?

Yes. According to SoSoValue, XRP spot ETFs continue to record positive inflows, with the Bitwise XRP ETF leading recent inflows. Continued capital inflows could strengthen long-term market sentiment if the trend persists.

5. What is the outlook for XRP in August 2026?

Current indicators suggest XRP may remain range-bound unless a strong catalyst emerges. A breakout above $1.22-$1.30 with higher trading volume would improve the probability of a broader recovery, while a break below $1.00 could trigger additional downside pressure.
