US spot XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have quietly become one of the strongest institutional crypto stories of 2026, with cumulative net inflows exceeding USD 1.6 billion despite periods of weak XRP prices.
The divergence between fund demand and spot-market performance suggests investors may be building longer-term exposure rather than simply chasing price momentum.
According to SoSoValue, the XRP spot ETFs attracted USD 110.49 million during the week ending August 28, their strongest weekly inflow of 2026. Following this inflow, XRP continued its inflow streak and attracted a combined USD 19.94 million on August 31 and September 1.
That lifted cumulative net inflows to USD 1.68 billion, while total net assets stood at USD 1.44 billion. The weekly figure more than doubled the previous 2026 record of roughly USD 60.5 million set in May.
The products had also recorded eleven consecutive inflow sessions. About USD 26.2 million flowed into the funds on August 28 alone, while USD 170.3 million flowed into the funds over the eleven-day streak.
ETF wrappers remove several obstacles associated with direct XRP ownership. Traditional investors can gain price exposure through brokerage accounts without managing private keys, transferring tokens or maintaining exchange accounts.
Decrypt reported that Goldman Sachs, Jane Street and Millennium are among major XRP ETF holders, while investment advisers represent an important category of allocators.
Bitwise’s XRP ETF has reportedly surpassed USD 500 million in assets under management and holds roughly 364.8 million XRP. This indicates demand is extending beyond crypto-native investors.
XRP spent years carrying unusual regulatory uncertainty as a result of Ripple’s dispute with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Greater clarity around XRP’s secondary-market treatment has helped financial companies create products that previously would have faced considerably more legal uncertainty.
ETF availability then converts that cleaner regulatory environment into something institutions can actually purchase through existing investment infrastructure.
XRP Ledger (XRPL) is also expanding beyond its original payments focus. Developers are working on tokenization, institutional decentralized finance (DeFi), Single Asset Vaults and lending through proposals such as XLS-65 and XLS-66.
These initiatives do not guarantee that XRP itself captures all resulting economic activity, but they broaden the ecosystem around the asset.
Why this MattersThe USD 1.68 billion in cumulative XRP ETF inflows shows that institutional access to XRP is becoming more established. Combined with greater regulatory clarity and XRPL’s expansion into DeFi and lending, sustained ETF demand could strengthen XRP’s role in institutional crypto portfolios.
ETF inflows are evidence of demand, not proof that XRP prices must rise. Fund flows can reverse, while institutional investors may hedge positions elsewhere.
Still, USD 1.68 billion in cumulative inflows is large enough to show that XRP has developed a meaningful institutional investment channel.
The next test is persistence. If inflows continue through periods of declining prices and weaker crypto sentiment, the case for structural rather than speculative institutional demand becomes considerably stronger.
