XRP’s next major move could depend on regulation, institutional demand, token supply and development of the XRP Ledger. These factors increasingly shape the market alongside broader crypto sentiment, making ETF flows and measurable network usage important indicators for investors.
US spot XRP ETFs have created a regulated route for investors seeking exposure without directly holding the token. By September 2, the funds had recorded 11 consecutive sessions of inflows, attracting around USD 170 million during that streak and USD 1.68 billion since launching in November 2025, according to SoSoValue. On September 14, ETFs recorded USD 11.26 million in net inflows.
Goldman Sachs was the largest disclosed institutional holder as of June 30, although regulatory filings cannot show whether institutions hedged their positions or continued holding them afterward.
XRP’s regulatory backdrop has changed substantially since Ripple’s long-running dispute with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) moved toward resolution in 2025. Greater regulatory clarity can reduce uncertainty for exchanges, asset managers and financial institutions, but future US legislation and digital-asset rules remain relevant to market sentiment. Investors should therefore separate regulatory progress from assumptions about future XRP prices.
XRP has a maximum supply of 100 billion tokens, with Ripple historically holding substantial amounts in escrow. Investors should distinguish maximum supply from circulating supply since tokens entering circulation can increase available liquidity.
Additional supply does not automatically create equivalent selling pressure. Its impact depends on whether tokens are sold, retained or used within the ecosystem and whether market demand absorbs them.
Network development could strengthen XRP Ledger’s financial use cases. Ripple said in February that institutional-focused features include Multi-Purpose Tokens, Permissioned Domains, a native lending protocol and confidential transfers.
Permissioned Domains were enabled on mainnet in February 2026, creating controlled environments that can support permissioned decentralized exchanges and lending applications.
Ripple also announced in June that Bitso’s MXNB stablecoin would be issued on XRPL and integrated with its evolving permissioned DEX infrastructure for enterprise settlement across the US-Mexico corridor.
Institutional tokenization is another area to monitor. In February, Aviva Investors announced plans with Ripple to explore tokenizing traditional fund structures on XRPL.
Ripple followed in August with investments in ZILO and Licuido, targeting regulated transfer agency, issuance and collateral mobility infrastructure.
These developments can increase XRPL activity, but investors should distinguish usage of XRP itself from transactions involving stablecoins or tokenized assets.
Why this MattersXRP’s market drivers are becoming more diversified as institutional products, regulation and XRPL infrastructure evolve. Understanding these factors helps investors distinguish short-term price speculation from measurable adoption, liquidity growth and long-term network development.
XRP’s next move could reflect a combination of ETF demand, regulation, circulating supply and measurable XRPL adoption. Sustained institutional flows and recurring economic activity would provide stronger evidence of adoption than announcements alone over time.

1. What could drive XRP’s next major price move?
XRP could be influenced by ETF flows, regulatory developments, circulating supply and broader crypto conditions. Measurable adoption of XRP Ledger for payments, tokenization and institutional finance could also affect market sentiment.
2. How important are spot XRP ETFs for XRP?
Spot ETFs provide regulated XRP exposure without requiring investors to manage tokens directly. Sustained inflows can indicate investment demand, although ETF participation alone does not guarantee higher XRP prices.
3. How does XRP’s token supply affect its market?
XRP has a maximum supply of 100 billion tokens, with part historically managed through Ripple’s escrow system. Changes in circulating supply can affect available liquidity, but their market impact ultimately depends on demand and actual selling.
4. What institutional features are being developed on XRP Ledger
XRPL development includes Permissioned Domains, Multi-Purpose Tokens, lending infrastructure and confidential transfers. These features are intended to support regulated financial applications, tokenized assets and institutional blockchain activity.
5. Does increasing XRPL usage automatically increase demand for XRP?
Not necessarily. XRPL can process activity involving stablecoins, tokenized securities and other assets without every transaction creating substantial XRP demand. Investors should therefore distinguish overall network growth from XRP-specific economic usage.
