Gemini Cited in Tronify.rent Crypto Scam Investigation

A crypto investigator has linked Tronify.rent to USD 69,651 in alleged losses involving roughly 80 victims in September. The report also claims one victim used Google Gemini to check whether the TRON-focused website was safe before interacting with it.

JP, founder of IOC Investigations, published the allegations on Oct. 4. His post identified 12 TRON addresses that he associated with the suspected operation.

The loss figure and victim count come from JP's investigation. No independent blockchain-forensics report reviewed for the supplied material separately reproduced the full USD 69,651 total across those addresses.

Investigator Links Tronify.rent to September Losses

Tronify.rent presents itself as a TRON energy rental service. The website promotes energy delegation as a way to reduce transaction costs for TRC-20 transfers. The site also describes its service as noncustodial and says users keep control of their assets. Its interface includes a wallet connection feature for customers seeking TRON energy.

Victim accounts present a different picture. A Reddit user said in June that funds disappeared after connecting a Trust Wallet to Tronify.rent. The user reported losing 2,590 USDT and later filing a complaint with the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. The Reddit account remains a user-generated allegation and does not establish criminal liability.

JP later said about 80 people suffered losses during September. Although he published associated wallet addresses, he did not release a public transaction-by-transaction calculation supporting the USD 69,651 figure.

He also identified tron.store as another suspected scam website. Separately, PhishDestroy recorded infrastructure using the title tron.store – Rent Energy and classified the associated site as high risk.

Security Warnings Predated the Latest Allegations

PhishDestroy had already flagged Tronify.rent months before JP's October report. The security service identified the domain in February and later assigned it a critical threat score of 90 out of 100.

Its stored intelligence cited crypto-scam and brand-impersonation signals. PhishDestroy also recorded threat-feed detections connected with the website. In April, the security service logged two abuse reports. One went to the domain registrar, while another escalation copied ICANN Compliance.

Its later monitoring showed the domain remained accessible. PhishDestroy notes that sending an abuse report does not prove that a registrar received, investigated, or acted on it.

WHOIS records show Tronify.rent was registered on Nov. 25, 2025. Registrant information remains hidden through a privacy service, while the registration lists TLD Registrar Solutions as registrar. Meanwhile, Tronify.rent identifies itself as Tronify Energy Solutions LLC. The website lists a Florida address and claims its infrastructure meets SOC 2 Type II standards.

No independent audit or regulatory document in the reviewed material confirms those claims. JP also claimed the operation used DDoS protection linked to Russia. Independent network information cited in the supplied material does not verify that allegation.

Instead, PhishDestroy identified Cloudflare as the website's edge network. Since the CDN concealed the origin server, the available data could not establish the origin's geographic location.

Gemini Claim Raises Questions Over AI Safety Checks

The investigation's most unusual allegation involves Google Gemini. JP said one victim asked Gemini whether Tronify.rent was safe before using the service.

According to JP, the victim reported receiving an answer that appeared to confirm the website was safe.  No public Google statement reviewed in the supplied material confirms the reported Gemini exchange. The available information also does not disclose the victim's exact prompt or Gemini's full response.

Google warns that generative AI systems can provide inaccurate information. Its Gemini guidance advises users to verify factual claims through other sources before relying on them.

Google's AI security documentation also addresses risks from malicious webpages. The company says webpages can contain prompt-injection material designed to influence generative AI systems. Google says Gemini uses safeguards intended to detect suspicious content. Users can also report responses they consider unsafe or inaccurate.

The company has separately warned about cryptocurrency fraud involving artificial intelligence. A June advisory described fake crypto investments, fraudulent mining tools, and deceptive AI bot tutorials.

Those schemes can direct users toward malicious software or wallet-draining activity. The Tronify.rent allegations remain based on JP's investigation, victim reports, domain records, and threat-intelligence findings described in the supplied material.

Final Thoughts

JP's report links Tronify.rent to USD 69,651 in alleged September losses involving about 80 victims. Earlier threat warnings add context, while the reported Gemini interaction remains unverified. Users relying on AI for website safety checks should verify factual claims through independent security sources.
