Meta is integrating artificial intelligence across its major social platforms and messaging services.
Zuckerberg envisions personal AI agents handling tasks, communication, planning, and everyday activities.
AI-powered glasses could become another interface that connects users to Meta’s ecosystem.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is pushing the company beyond traditional social networking, with artificial intelligence increasingly becoming part of how people search, create, communicate, and interact across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and Threads.
The strategy is built around Meta’s growing AI ecosystem, including its Muse family of models, Meta AI assistants, AI-powered creative tools, and wearable devices. Zuckerberg has also outlined a longer-term vision in which billions of people could use personal AI agents that understand their goals and work on their behalf.
Meta has been integrating AI directly into the products used by billions of people. In June, the company introduced AI Mode on Facebook, allowing users to ask questions and receive answers based on public content shared across Meta’s platforms, including Groups and Reels.
The company said the feature is designed to provide perspectives and recommendations from people using its services rather than simply returning a conventional list of links.
Meta has also introduced AI-powered creative tools for Facebook. These include features for creating photos and videos, generating collages, and applying changes to clothing, hair, and accessories. Camera roll sharing suggestions remain opt-in and can be turned off by users.
The broader objective is to make AI part of everyday social interactions rather than keeping it separate as a standalone chatbot.
A key part of the strategy is Muse Spark, Meta’s large language model developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs.
Meta introduced Muse Spark in April, describing it as the first in a new series of models. The company said it rebuilt its AI stack over nine months, with Muse Spark designed to provide reasoning and multimodal capabilities while serving as the foundation for future models.
Muse Spark powers Meta AI across the Meta AI app and website and has been rolled out across WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and Threads, as well as Meta’s AI glasses.
Meta is also using the model to bring more context into AI interactions. Users can receive information based on public posts, creator content, and community discussions across the company’s platforms.

Zuckerberg’s vision extends beyond AI simply responding to prompts.
Meta AI can now make plans, connect with email and calendar applications, create presentations and handle tasks on behalf of users. The company has positioned these capabilities as part of its push towards what Zuckerberg calls ‘personal superintelligence’.
For example, Meta AI can help plan a trip, organize a training schedule, research a subject, or create a mood board. Users can also receive scheduled briefings and updates based on information from their calendars and other connected services.
This represents a shift from AI as a question-and-answer tool towards AI that can execute tasks.
Zuckerberg has said that within five years, it is extremely unlikely that billions of people will not have personal AI agents that understand their goals and work on their behalf.
He has suggested that these agents could eventually help with areas including finances, health, interpersonal relationships, and household management.
Zuckerberg has also pointed to messaging platforms as an important part of this future. WhatsApp, in particular, could become increasingly significant as people interact with multiple AI agents. Meta has said WhatsApp is already the leading platform where users interact with Meta AI.

Meta’s AI ambitions also extend beyond phones and computers.
Muse Spark is being integrated into Meta’s AI glasses, including Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta devices. The company has described glasses as an important part of its longer-term AI strategy, giving users access to AI capabilities through a wearable interface.
The approach connects Meta’s AI models with its existing social platforms, creating an ecosystem where AI can assist with communication, content creation, discovery, and everyday tasks.
For Zuckerberg, Meta’s next phase is therefore not simply about adding AI features to Facebook or Instagram. It is about making artificial intelligence a layer across the company’s social platforms, messaging services, and devices, and turning those products into increasingly personalized AI-powered experiences.
