According to a study presented by Broadband India Forum (BIF), IoT and AI technology-based applications/solutions will generate 28 lakh jobs in rural India over next decade with an annual value of around Rs 60,000 crore.
Nearly 21 lakh jobs out of 28 lakh jobs will be subjected to the agriculture sector and remaining will be directed towards the healthcare sector. The data has been presented by BIF in consultation with the Electronics Skill Council of India, the Agriculture Skill Council, and the Healthcare Sector Skill Council.
The report also said that such jobs will be created over 8-10 years of period and the intensity and quantity of job creation is expected to further accelerate after 2021-22 post implementation of 5G technology.
BIF's data highlighted that AI and IoT centric applications including satellite mapping, electronic marketplace, livestock traceability, climate sensing stations, product traceability, and agriculture drones have the strength and potential to bring digital evolution in the agricultural sector.
Such solutions will assist in the creation of smart farms and will bring accurate predictability in agriculture output which in turn will enable farmers to improve incomes and their lives.
The precision agriculture (PA), a crop management style in which AI-driven systems are utilized to improve harvest quality and accuracy, detecting diseases in plants, pests and poor plant nutrition on farms.
Additionally, AI sensors can detect weeds for analysis of herbicide application and resistance.
Agriculture is the most important base of an economy and needs to be served with prior considerations. The smart farming technology emerging from IoT, AI, and robotics are enhancing the efficiency of this field with respect to the business trends. The smart implementation of such technologies helps to yield better and healthy crops, reduce the workload of farmers and produce insight for better decision making in crop production and its further trade.
