The service costs $11.99 per month on the web and $14.99 per month on iOS, and offers users verification, security, and visibility benefits.

Meta Verified is aimed at content creators who want to increase their authenticity and reach on the platforms.

The service is seen as a way for Meta to diversify its revenue stream amid regulatory scrutiny and user backlash over its reliance on targeted ads.

Meta Verified follows Twitter's launch of Twitter Blue, another subscription service that offers premium features to users.
