Tornado Cash Founders “Just Wrote Code”, Defends Cardano Founder

Charles Hoskinson protects Tornado Cash founders amid growing tensions around the crypto mixer

The sanctioning of cryptocurrency mixer Tornado Cash has sent the crypto industry into a deep dark hole. Experts believe that users are mostly scared of Ethereum's negligence to protect user privacy, which is why Ether holders used mixers to maintain their anonymity for legitimate transactions. Now, with the absence of Tornado Cash, investors are afraid that their anonymity would be in jeopardy. As the investigations carry on, there are several crypto developers and founders who have spoken in defense of the developers, and one of those is the Cardano founder, Charles Hoskinson.

There have been intense, mixed feelings regarding the sanction of Tornado Cash, but Charles Hoskinson takes a positive route and stated his support for the developers. The Cardano founder claims that developers just write codes, and with open-source codes, it is not up to them what to leverage it for, once it is written. He continued to argue that Tornado Cash developers only wrote code for the mixer and others went on to use it for nefarious activities. He compared it to writing books like 'how to make cyanide', and said that these were not instructions for anyone to build a bomb!

Cardano's founder seemed to take real offense as the platform's developers were subjected to such treatment. As the crypto market is reeling from sanctions and rising volatility, Tornado Cash and other mixers are being pestered by the US government. Another mixer, known as Blender is also being targeted by the US government, rendering it illegal for US residents to use. The effects of these protocols are already making strides in the market. Aave has already started banning wallets associated with crypto mixers, and this is just the beginning. It is only a matter of time before the crypto market again witnesses a sell-off season triggered by thefts and regulations.
