CSMIA deploys Scrubber Dryer Robots at T2 for Enhanced Terminal Hygiene

Mumbai, 06 June, 2024: In a groundbreaking initiative towards automation and enhanced efficiency, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) proudly introduces state-of-the-art Scrubber Dryer Robots at Terminal 2. This innovative step signifies CSMIA's dedication to leveraging advanced technology to redefine airport maintenance and provide an immaculate environment for passengers.

Terminal 2 will now benefit from this cutting-edge cleaning technology. The Scrubber Dryer Robots, introduced in collaboration with our technology partners, boast a wide range of advanced features designed to optimize the cleaning process.

1.      Automated Cleaning: Ensuring thorough cleaning without the need for constant human intervention.

2.      Dynamic Cleaning: Adaptable cleaning modes based on floor type and dirt levels, providing a tailored cleaning approach.

3.      Li-Ion Batteries: These batteries offer performance across a wide temperature range and can operate continuously for up to 8 hours.

4.      Beacon & Buzzer: Visual and audio alerts for enhanced safety.

5.      Analytics & Real-Time Reporting: Comprehensive data analysis and reporting for optimal hygiene performance, thus ensuring passenger wellbeing.

Automotive-Grade Ultrasonic Sensors: Advanced sensors for detecting glass and sudden obstacles, ensuring seamless operation

Currently, CSMIA has deployed two units of these Scrubber Dryer Robots at Terminal 2, with plans to expand this technology further in FY 2025. While the robots operate autonomously, they can be operated remotely, with minimal manual assistance required for tasks such as water refilling. To ensure seamless operations, machine operators undergo comprehensive training and receive certification upon qualification. This ongoing training ensures that the machines are operated safely and efficiently.

Safety is paramount in the deployment of these robots. They are equipped with a beacon with flashlight to alert nearby staff and passengers, speed control mechanisms to reduce their speed during busy periods, and sensors on the front and sides for obstacle detection. An emergency stop switch is also available on each robot, and authorized employees are trained by Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) engineers to handle the machines proficiently.

Beyond operational efficiency, these robots offer significant environmental and sustainability benefits compared to traditional cleaning methods. They save over 50% of electricity and approximately 20% in water usage, while reducing chemical consumption through dynamic cleaning processes. This eco-friendly approach underscores CSMIA's commitment to sustainability and innovation in airport management.

By integrating these advanced Scrubber Dryer Robots, CSMIA exemplifies its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and passenger wellbeing. This initiative reflects CSMIA's dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance operational efficiency and provide a superior travel experience. As the airport continues to pioneer new advancements, passengers can look forward to a cleaner, safer, and more enjoyable environment, underscoring CSMIA's role as a leader in modern airport management.
