Bilibili is rising as a potent rival that threatens YouTube’s dominance. This Chinese app is building a huge audience base outside the country. The video platform relaunched its international app and is reportedly offering creators up to USD 0.70, or around Rs. 60, for every 1,000 views. The exact payment can vary, and the company has not confirmed a fixed rate.
Further, the platform announced that the international version would offer users a streamlined registration process without mandatory identity verification. Along with that, it can have a more localized user experience and additional features tailored to overseas audiences. According to the official announcement, Bilibili already has more than 350 million monthly active users.
Notably, the platform already has some renowned names posting videos. YouTube star MrBeast is one of the creators who joined Bilibili in 2024 and has since gained 8.8 million followers.
Bilibili started with a strong focus on anime and gaming. Over time, it grew into a wider platform for fan communities. Users can now find content around AI-generated videos, entertainment, and many other interests. One feature that sets Bilibili apart is its bullet comments. These comments move across the screen while a video is playing. Viewers can react at the same time, making videos feel more like a shared experience.
However, the platform still has a long way to go to compete with YouTube globally. If Bilibili can grow its creator base outside China, it could become a stronger name in the global video market. For now, its mix of fan communities and creator rewards gives it an interesting edge.
