UAE’s Ministry of Artificial Intelligence
In 2017, the UAE Government laid the foundation of its Ministry of Artificial Intelligence, designed to implement high-end AI solutions into different workings sectors of the country. Spearheaded by Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama, the ministry is also aimed at supporting the government to run the country in an effective state of manner.
It is also intended at aiding the education sectors, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, by deploying AI into the school curriculum so that students can prepare for the jobs of the future.
UAE’s Strategy for AI
By launching “UAE Strategy for Artificial Intelligence”, in October 2017, which marks the post-mobile government stage that will rely on a wide array of future services, sectors and infrastructure projects, this is the first of its kind of strategy in the region and the world.
It intends to accomplish the objectives of UAE Centennial 2071; strengthen the performance of government at all levels; make the country the first in the arena of AI investments in various sectors; establish a new vital market with high economic value; and utilize an integrated smart digital system to conquer challenges and offer efficient solutions abruptly.
The strategy will cover the sectors, including transport – Lessening accidents and operational costs; Health – Minimising chronic and dangerous diseases; Space – Conducting apt testing and reducing costly error rates; Energy – Managing facilities and smart consumption; Technology – fuelling the production rate and communication effectiveness; Education – Diminishing costs and boosting the desire to learn.
The UAE has made AI a solemn part of its long-term strategic planning and set to take advantages from its major investments in high-end technologies. The sector is anticipated to contribute to the country’s GDP around 14% by 2030, means US$ 96 billion.
Currently, Dubai is the ultramodern architectural city in the UAE and it is the home to 29 AI-driven startups as the city is dynamically delivering programs and initiatives to assist in establishing and developing the rooms for startups.
