For example, Hollister has very loud music playing in their stores because they want to recreate the fun and carefree vibe of a music festival or concert. When people hear the loud music, their inhibitions are lowered and they are more relaxed and more likely to buy a lot of clothing from Hollister.

In addition, Hollister has very dim lighting in their stores because data shows that when shopping in darker places with dim mood lighting, customers are more disoriented. When customers cannot fully focus on the one thing they came in to buy at Hollister, they are more likely to get distracted and shop around for more than what they came in for.
