Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a buzzword. Its applications in healthcare are delivering clear improvements in patient care, disease management, and even hospital administration. Today, AI-driven tools are helping clinicians become more proactive, accurate, and focused on patients rather than paperwork.

This episode of the Analytics Insight Podcast delves into how AI is transforming Indian healthcare, featuring Chaitanya Raju, Executive Director and Chief Product Officer at HealthPlix Technologies.

AI for Better Healthcare in India

HealthPlix was founded with the vision of improving patient health outcomes at a population level across India. The company’s goal was to help not only metro cities but also Tier 2 and Tier 3 areas. “We felt the best way to do that was to digitize doctors’ practices and hospitals in a way that was easy to use,” Chaitanya explains.

By building AI on top of this digital infrastructure, HealthPlix aimed to improve clinical outcomes and doctor efficiency. “Our tools help doctors see more patients and deliver better care,” says the Executive Director of HealthPlix. Over the past decade, HealthPlix has experienced significant growth. Today, 14,000 doctors actively use their software for an average of four hours a day.

The platform has served 45 million unique patients and registered about 80 million in total. Chaitanya notes, “Roughly 4% of India’s population is treated through HealthPlix. We achieved this by building software that truly addresses doctors’ and hospitals’ needs.”

Meet the Technologist Behind the Vision

Based in Bengaluru, Chaitanya has spent over 20 years working in AI. “My master’s thesis was on detecting spinal deformities in X-rays,” he shares. Since then, his career has spanned AI startups in California and leadership roles in tech companies.

Chaitanya initially helped build autonomous vehicles for the US defense industry.  He later took a leadership role at Medallia, a company that went public at a $6.5 billion valuation. After his MBA from UCLA, Chaitanya returned to India to build scalable AI tools.

Describing his move back to India, the Executive Director explained, “I always believed in the Bengaluru ecosystem. Solving Indian problems gives you the complexity and scale to take your product global.”

At HealthPlix, Chaitanya wears many hats. However, his primary focus remains on building scalable AI products that directly help users. Emphasizing his goals, the Executive Director at HealthPlix notes, “AI should not be academic. It should solve real problems for doctors, patients, and hospitals.”

Real-World Use Cases: Treatment, Detection & More

AI is changing how treatment plans are created and how diseases are detected. Traditionally, treatment planning depended on the doctor's judgment and guidelines. AI enhances this by analyzing vast medical and genetic datasets to offer personalized care.

AI also supports early screening and better management of electronic health records. These technologies streamline workflows. Thus, allowing doctors to spend less time on admin tasks and more on patient care.

Conclusion: HealthPlix’s AI-Driven Healthcare Revolution

HealthPlix is leading India’s push toward a smarter, more inclusive healthcare system with its AI-first approach and deep doctor engagement. The company is combining domain expertise with cutting-edge tech and better accuracy, especially in regions where access is limited.

Chaitanya sums it up aptly, noting, “AI is no longer an experiment. It’s a tool for scale, impact, and better lives.”
