TECNO is pushing smartphone design toward an all-screen future with its Next-Gen Bezelless Concept Phone. The device claims a 0mm display border and will appear at IFA 2026 in Berlin. It remains a concept, but its engineering approach could influence how premium phones handle displays, frames, and internal components.

How TECNO removed the black border

TECNO says the phone achieves its 0mm border through redesigned internal stacking, structural engineering, and screen-packaging techniques. The result removes the familiar black edge around the display, creating a near-continuous front surface. A centred punch-hole camera remains visible, showing that bezelless design does not mean abandoning conventional front-camera placement.

Built for a more immersive screen

The concept is built around immersion rather than a radical change in smartphone software. TECNO says the edge-to-edge display is designed to improve video viewing, gaming, photo browsing, and reading. With more of the front dedicated to the screen, the device also explores how far manufacturers can push visual minimalism.

This is still a concept phone

TECNO has positioned the handset as a technology demonstration, not a confirmed retail product. The company has not announced final specifications, pricing, a commercial name, or production timeline. That distinction matters: the 0mm concept showcases what is possible, but consumers should not assume an identical phone will immediately reach stores.

The design comes with challenges

The design also raises practical questions. A screen reaching the frame leaves little visual margin for protection, accidental touches, and manufacturing tolerances. TECNO has not detailed how the concept handles those challenges. The technology therefore matters as much for its engineering lessons as for the striking appearance shown in teasers.

IFA 2026 will reveal more

TECNO is expected to showcase the concept during IFA 2026's ShowStoppers event in September. Recent hands-on imagery indicates the visible black border has been eliminated, although a metallic edge remains. That makes 0mm bezel more nuanced: the display border disappears visually, while the phone still retains physical structure around it.

A glimpse at future phones

The 0mm concept is unlikely to replace conventional smartphones overnight, but it signals where display design could head next. If TECNO can translate the technology into durable, affordable production devices, thinner visual boundaries may become a new battleground. For now, the concept offers a glimpse of a more immersive smartphone future.
