Netflix Adds Season 2 of the “Cyberpunk 2077” Anime Series

Netflix Adds Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2

Netflix has expanded the Cyberpunk universe with Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, bringing audiences back to Night City for another anime adventure. Developed by CD Projekt Red and Japanese animation studio TRIGGER, the new installment introduces a fresh story, new characters and dangerous conflicts in a futuristic metropolis dominated by technology, crime and corporate power.

A Fresh Story Set in Night City

Unlike a direct continuation centred on the original protagonist, the second season introduces new characters with their own ambitions, conflicts and struggles. Their intersecting journeys explore revenge, redemption and survival in a futuristic metropolis where powerful corporations, advanced technology and ruthless criminals shape everyday life.

Ten Episodes Promise a Standalone Experience

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 features ten episodes designed to deliver a complete narrative. Its standalone format allows newcomers to explore the Cyberpunk universe without requiring extensive knowledge of the first season. Returning viewers can also discover a different perspective on Night City's unforgiving environment and the people struggling to survive.

CD Projekt Red and TRIGGER Return

CD Projekt Red, the studio behind Cyberpunk 2077, has reunited with acclaimed Japanese animation studio TRIGGER for the new installment. Director Kai Ikarashi leads the project, with character designer Kanno Ichigo contributing to its visual identity. The creative team aims to preserve the franchise's distinctive animation style and gritty futuristic atmosphere.

Revenge and Redemption Drive the Narrative

The new installment explores the consequences of violence through interconnected stories involving ambition, vengeance, obsession and personal loss. Its themes examine how individuals struggle to find meaning and preserve their identities in a society where corporate power and technological excess frequently overwhelm personal freedom and human relationships.

Netflix Expands Its Anime Catalogue

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 adds another major science-fiction title to Netflix's anime catalogue. The franchise combines intense action, futuristic world-building and emotionally driven storytelling, appealing to viewers interested in mature animated series. Its return also offers existing fans another opportunity to explore the complex characters and dangerous environments that define the Cyberpunk universe.

Cyberpunk 2077 Keeps the Franchise Growing

The anime's arrival also strengthens the connection between Cyberpunk: Edgerunners and Cyberpunk 2077. The video game introduced players to Night City's sprawling world, corporate rivalries and underground communities. Continued development across animation and gaming allows the franchise to explore different stories while maintaining its recognisable cyberpunk setting and themes.
