iPhone 17 Tops Global Smartphone Sales in Q2 2026

Apple’s iPhone 17

Apple’s iPhone 17 became the world’s best-selling smartphone in Q2 2026, taking a 6% share of global smartphone unit sales. The iPhone 17 Pro Max and iPhone 17 Pro followed in second and third place, giving Apple a strong lead in the global rankings.

Apple and Samsung

Apple and Samsung each placed five models in the global top 10. Together, their smartphones accounted for 26% of global unit sales, the highest share recorded for a June quarter. The figure also increased 2% year over year.

Samsung’s Galaxy S26

Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra became the best-selling Android smartphone in Q2 2026. It climbed five positions compared with its predecessor and accounted for more than half of Galaxy S26 series sales. Its privacy display and AI features helped it stand out.

The iPhone 17

The iPhone 17 series helped Apple grow despite a weaker smartphone market. Apple’s unit sales increased 5% year over year, with strong demand in India, Japan and the Middle East and Africa. Sales in South Korea nearly doubled during the quarter.

The more affordable

The more affordable iPhone 17e also helped Apple maintain its presence in the top 10. MagSafe and higher storage at the same price as its predecessor supported demand, especially in the US and Japan, where carrier promotions boosted sales.

Samsung’s Galaxy

Samsung’s Galaxy A series continued to attract buyers because of its affordable pricing, wide availability and value. All Galaxy A models in the top 10 also offer six years or more of software support, matching longer smartphone replacement cycles.

The top 10

The top 10’s 26% sales share also reflects a changing smartphone market. Global smartphone shipments fell 11% year over year in Q2 2026, while brands focused more on premium and key models to manage rising costs and the global RAM shortage.
