Buying a Projector on Deal? 7-Point Checklist to Follow

Check Native Resolution

Choose a projector with a suitable native resolution for your viewing needs. Full HD is a strong choice for movies, gaming, presentations, sports, and everyday home entertainment. Avoid paying extra for advertised support for higher resolutions if the projector’s actual native resolution is much lower.

Compare Brightness Levels

Check the projector’s ANSI or ISO lumens instead of relying only on general marketing claims. Higher brightness helps maintain clear and visible images when some room lighting is present. For dark home theatres, moderate brightness may be enough, while brighter rooms usually require a stronger light output.

Measure Throw Distance

Check the required distance between the projector and the screen before purchasing. Short-throw and ultra-short-throw models can work better in smaller rooms where installation space is limited. A projector that needs more distance may produce a large image but might not suit your available room layout.

Check Connectivity Options

Look for HDMI, USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and audio output options based on the devices you plan to connect. Multiple ports make it easier to switch between laptops, gaming consoles, streaming sticks, speakers, and other sources. Smart projectors should also offer stable wireless connectivity for convenient streaming.

Examine Contrast and Colour

Do not judge picture quality from resolution alone. Check contrast levels, colour reproduction, HDR support, image processing, and supported colour standards when comparing models. Better contrast can improve dark scenes, while accurate colours make movies, sports, games, presentations, and photographs look more natural on a larger screen.

Verify Warranty and Support

A heavily discounted projector may not be a good deal if after-sales support is weak. Check the warranty period, service centre availability, replacement policies, and seller credibility before placing the order. Also confirm whether the warranty covers major components such as the light source and internal hardware.

Calculate the Real Deal Price

Compare the discounted projector price with offers from multiple sellers before deciding. Consider delivery charges, taxes, mounting equipment, screens, external speakers, replacement parts, and other accessories that may increase the final cost. A slightly costlier model can sometimes provide better long-term value and lower ownership expenses.
