The global video-sharing giant YouTube was down for several users in India and the United States, with thousands reporting they could not access video playback, homepages, or their accounts.
In India, difficulties in using the service were reported late in the morning, and in the US, the problems were reported early in the morning. Soon after that, thousands of complaints came in. Users experienced issues such as videos not opening, the application or webpage abruptly displaying error messages, blank screens, and continuous buffering.
In India, users in major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata reported issues with both the mobile and desktop versions of YouTube. While some individuals reported faulty loading, others said the app crashed or displayed the “something went wrong” screen.
Comparable reports were also filed from the United States, where people reported difficulties streaming videos and logging in to their accounts. The Downdetector also indicated an abrupt increase in outage reports, suggesting an extensive problem rather than one limited to an area or an ISP.
Social media sites, especially X (formerly Twitter), were filled with responses as frustrated Internet users resorted to memes and jokes. “Thought my internet was down, turns out YouTube is down,” tweeted one user, displaying the shared feeling that others had regarding the issue.
There has been no official communication from YouTube regarding the cause of the outage. Google's service status page has no updates or information regarding service problems during the blackout.
For content creators, the outage posed potential consequences, including lost views and upload failures, particularly for time-sensitive content. “Missed my upload window today because nothing was loading,” said a user.

Though relatively rare, instances of a YouTube outage tend to grab people’s immediate attention as the platform has a massive user base and widespread use for entertainment, news, and other purposes.
The most recent reports indicate that the services were restored only partially for some people and the others still encountered sporadic issues. Users are advised to monitor the official YouTube channels and service pages for updates as problem solutions evolve.
