Why Is EA Shutting Down FIFA 23? Know the Real Story
EA has officially announced that online services for FIFA 23 will be terminated on December 12, 2025. This date marks the conclusion of the last title in the long-standing FIFA series. Released in 2022, FIFA 23 will lose all online multiplayer features, including FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) and special events.
This shutdown signifies the end of the online presence and availability for every EA-published FIFA game, following the expiration of EA's license for the FIFA brand.
Is FIFA 23 Closing Shop?
FIFA 23 holds special significance among fans for being the last EA football game under the FIFA brand before the company began working on EA Sports FC 24 and FC 25. Its unique features, including the Ted Lasso crossover, which delivered some memorable content for players.
With the server shutdown, many in-game achievements and trophies will become unavailable, disappointing players who have yet to complete their trophies.
Are Many EA Games Shutting Down?
FIFA 23 is not the only EA title being shut down this year. The list includes multiple games across genres:
Madden NFL 21: June 30
Madden NFL 22: October 20
UFC 3: February 17
NCAA 14: March 13
Mobile titles such as The Simpsons: Tapped Out, Deer Hunter Classic, and Contract Killer: Sniper are slated for shutdown in early 2025.

What Is The Final Day For FIFA Servers?
For EA, being able to turn off servers for older games is especially helpful in freeing up resources to work on newer ones; the loss of licensing agreements and the few active players also lead to such a shutdown.
Since the FIFA servers will be shut down, so will all of the online features included, such as multiplayer and any form of progression.
