Apple's new HomeView smart display may look like a convenient addition to a connected home, but buyers planning to mount it on a wall will need to budget for more than the advertised USD 299 price. The company is selling the wall-mounted version at the same starting price as its desktop model, yet the hardware required to install and power it is sold separately.
The extra expense could catch shoppers off guard, particularly those expecting the wall-mounted version to arrive ready for installation. Apple has listed several mounting options from Schneider Home, with prices starting at USD 59.95 in the United States.
Apple offers two mounting accessories for preorder, alongside a third option planned for early 2027. The Power Mount USB-C Wall Connector costs USD 59.95, while the Power Mount AC Wired version is priced at USD 79.95. A Power Mount PoE Wired accessory, which uses Power over Ethernet, is expected to cost USD 129.95 when it becomes available.
The USB-C option provides a simpler installation route, but buyers still need a compatible power adapter of at least 20 watts. The AC Wired mount connects through in-wall power, creating a cleaner installation without an exposed cable. Apple recommends using a licensed electrician for this option and is working with ADT to offer installation services.
The PoE version is intended for homes with compatible Ethernet power wiring and is not yet available.
The additional cost is not simply an optional design upgrade. Apple's wall-mounted HomeView does not include the mounting hardware, USB-C cable or power adapter supplied with the desktop model. Customers choosing the wall version must arrange a compatible mounting and power solution before they can use it.
At the listed US prices, the wall-mounted device and the USB-C mount total at least USD 358.95, before accounting for any separately purchased power adapter. Choosing the AC Wired mount brings the combined price to USD 378.95, excluding installation costs.
Apple also sells the two versions as distinct models. Buyers cannot purchase the desktop HomeView and later convert it into the wall-mounted version.

The wall-mounted HomeView comes only in silver and space gray, while the desktop model is also available in starlight and rose pink. There are audio differences, too: the desktop version includes a speaker base with a woofer and passive radiators, which the wall-mounted model lacks.
Apple has opened preorders, with availability scheduled to begin November 13 in selected markets. Buyers should compare the total installation cost and audio features before choosing between the two designs.
