Space startups raised a record USD 20.8 billion in the third quarter of 2026, almost three times the USD 7.4 billion raised in the previous quarter. Recently, an investment firm, Seraphim, published a report that revealed that a record 216 deals were completed during the quarter, up from 140 in the second quarter. However, these stats exclude Blue Origin's USD 10 billion funding deal; the total reached a record USD 10.8 billion. According to the report, investors are putting more money into launch services, satellite networks, and other space projects as demand from businesses and governments grows.

In this growth, launch and Space access companies have played a key role. As per the reports, they have raised USD 16.4 billion through 120 deals. Satellite communications, Earth observation, and other space service firms raised another USD 4 billion.

The report points out some other major deals with huge investments like USD 1.37 billion for Hadrian, USD 1 billion for Stoke Space and USD 500 million for K2 Space. Reportedly, North America accounted for about 70% of global funding so far in 2026. China also had a strong quarter, with USD 3.3 billion raised across 49 deals. Seraphim expects funding to fall from this record level but stay above past averages.

Can Space Startups Turn Funding Into Growth?

A large funding round does not promise success. Many listed space companies are still losing money. Startups must show that they can deliver services on time, control costs, and win customers. Long-term government contracts could help, but firms still need sound business plans.

Space services are becoming more important to governments and businesses. This is drawing fresh money into the industry. The next challenge is to turn that funding into useful services and steady income.
