Organizers postponed the Solana Shanghai event on Friday morning after law enforcement officers gathered outside the Shangri-La Hotel, according to attendees. Guests waited outside for more than an hour, and the program never began. An official email cited venue logistics but did not address the police presence. The disruption followed the Solana Foundation's unveiling of a Shanghai office two days earlier, amid China's restrictions on cryptocurrency trading.
An attendee reported on X that several officers stood guard near the hotel entrance. Registered guests remained outside while the scheduled morning activities failed to start.
Later, the Solana Accelerate China team emailed participants about the postponement. Organizers apologized for the short notice and said they would contact guests once a revised schedule became available.
The message cited venue logistics but did not mention the officers or clarify whether their presence contributed to the postponement. Attendees' accounts established the officers' presence, but the email provided no details about discussions between police and event staff.
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, known as CZ, responded on X by calling the situation “sad to see.” He questioned whether organizers understood local policies and referred to a similar incident within the past year.
Earlier, Zhao had welcomed Solana's new Shanghai office as a positive development for the industry. He also said BNB Chain had yet to take a comparable step.
The Shanghai postponement follows a Solana Accelerate APAC gathering in Shenzhen in October 2025. Police made an on-site inquiry there, and organizers ended the final hackathon session early, citing overcrowding.
The two incidents place separate Solana events under scrutiny within roughly one year. The organizers' explanations differed, while both gatherings experienced interruptions involving local police activity.
Mainland China has prohibited cryptocurrency trading since 2021, although blockchain technology remains legal. A joint notice in February also prohibited unauthorized yuan-pegged stablecoins and reaffirmed restrictions on crypto activity.
Meanwhile, the government continues developing a national blockchain network without tokens. That distinction separates state-supported blockchain infrastructure from cryptocurrency trading and token-based projects.
Coinbase has also reportedly made access easier for mainland users, creating another point of contact between foreign crypto businesses and China's restricted market. The Solana Foundation's newly unveiled office adds another development to its China activities. The event series also lists Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beijing among its planned stops. No changes to those other stops appeared in the supplied account.

Separately, CoinGlass's one-month liquidation heatmap showed SOL recovering toward USD 106 after a recent fall toward USD 101. The chart identified concentrations around 100–101 and near 105–107.
These concentrations mark areas visible on the derivatives chart, not guaranteed destinations for price. Higher up, additional liquidation concentrations appeared between USD 110 and USD 115. Larger, brighter bands sat near 123–125, above the trading range seen in early October.
Below the USD 100 mark, another cluster appeared around 96–97. That area overlapped with a support region identified by analyst Aman, linking two independently described chart levels.
The recovery scenario begins with SOL maintaining its move above USD 102.83. The next levels on the chart are USD 109.21 and the resistance zone from USD 112.67 to USD 114.95.
A return to that area would require further gains beyond the nearer resistance levels shown on the technical map. If price clears those levels, the former 120–124 range returns to view. This remains a technical scenario rather than a confirmed price move.
Conversely, a decline through 100.62–100 would expose the nearby 97–99 support region. Aman's deeper 75–77 scenario depends on that lower support failing.
The Solana Shanghai event postponement follows a similar disruption in Shenzhen as China maintains restrictions on cryptocurrency trading. Organizers have yet to announce a revised schedule. Meanwhile, SOL's recovery toward USD 106 places resistance between USD 109 and USD 115 in focus, with the USD 100 region remaining an important downside level.
