Samsung may change its chip plans for the Galaxy S27 Ultra after reports of heating issues with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. The issue began when a report from a Korean publication claimed that the chip ran too hot during heavy use. The heat may have forced it to slow down to keep its temperature under control.
Samsung has reportedly asked Qualcomm to fix the issue. However, Qualcomm has denied the claims, so the problem has not been confirmed. Qualcomm Chief Marketing Officer Don McGuire mentioned, “100 NOT accurate.”
He further added a reply to his post stating, “There are no systemic thermal issues with the 8 elite gen 6. OEMs are consistently tuning their platforms as they launch their products. Always trying to balance performance and power to optimize their value props around different use cases. We work together to deliver the best for users.”
If Qualcomm cannot solve the issue, Samsung may turn to its own Exynos 2700 chip. The company is reportedly weighing speed, heat control, and production needs before making a final choice. The Snapdragon chip was expected to power Galaxy S27 Ultra, but the reported heat problem could change those plans. Samsung has not yet confirmed which chip will power its next flagship phone.
Samsung and Qualcomm are reportedly working to fix the issue. If they find a solution, Samsung may keep the Snapdragon chip. If not, the company could choose another option before production moves ahead.

Exynos 2700 gives Samsung more control over its smartphones. Reportedly, the in-house chip uses a 2nm process, and it is designed to offer better speed and power efficiency. However, real-world tests will show whether it can match Snapdragon in gaming, battery life, and heat control.
It’s not like previous Exynos phones never faced heat-related issues. Samsung models have faced plenty of complaints about weak performance and heat. This may make some buyers cautious about an Exynos-powered Galaxy S27 Ultra. Therefore, Samsung has to show clear gains in speed, battery life, and daily use to win them over. Ultimately, buyers will want a phone that runs fast, stays cool, and lasts longer between charges.
