Ripple has partnered with Stripe-owned Privy to bring embedded crypto wallets to the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The integration will let developers create wallets inside financial applications and manage payments using XRP, Ripple USD (RLUSD), and other assets on the network.

The October 13 announcement comes as network data shows more than 14 million transactions linked to AI payment services. However, the total value transferred remains relatively small compared with the transaction count.

Privy to Provide Embedded XRP Ledger Wallets

Privy announced that developers will be able to create XRPL wallets, sign transactions, and manage transfers through its infrastructure. Users of participating financial applications would not need separate wallet software or direct handling of private keys to make payments.

The company also plans to allow users to export their private keys or recovery phrases. This would give customers a way to move their wallets outside an application rather than depend entirely on one provider.

Markus Infanger, senior vice president of RippleX at Ripple, said the partnership would support products ranging “from payments and stablecoin experiences to emerging forms of agentic commerce.” The announcement did not identify specific financial applications launching with the integration.

XRP Ledger AI Payments Exceed 14 Million

The XRPL AI Hub dashboard shows more than 14.3 million cumulative transactions and 169 registered merchants as of October 14. The hub tracks payments through x402 services, which allow software to purchase access to online resources.

Its figures showed approximately 6,992 XRP and 12,805 RLUSD in cumulative payments. These totals indicate that many transactions involve small amounts. However, the figures do not establish how many individual customers use the services or how much revenue merchants earn.

Ripple previously reported 13 million AI agent payments, representing roughly 25% of XRP Ledger activity. That percentage remains a company-reported figure and does not measure the total financial value of automated payments.

x402 Lets AI Agents Pay for Online Services

Under x402, a software agent can request paid data, receive a payment notice, and send funds. Once the service verifies payment, it releases the information. This process allows repeated small purchases without opening a checkout page each time.

For example, an AI service searching for market data could pay a provider for a single request. The provider would release the requested information after verifying the payment.

Privy said businesses could use server-side wallets to hold funds and authorize transactions. Developers would still need to decide when their software can spend money. The company also plans transaction policy controls to manage wallet activity.

Ripple introduced its XRPL AI Starter Kit in June to support automated payments in XRP and RLUSD. In July, it joined the x402 Foundation, which operates under the Linux Foundation. Coinbase originally developed the payment standard.

Stripe Ownership Expands Payment Infrastructure

Stripe acquired Privy in July 2025 after completing its purchase of stablecoin infrastructure provider Bridge earlier that year. Privy continues to supply wallet services for businesses integrating digital assets into their applications.

Privy CEO Henri Stern said, “Stablecoins are changing how money moves.” The company also plans to add gas sponsorship to the XRPL integration but did not provide a release date. Both features remain part of its announced development plans.

Separately, Standard Chartered recently introduced institutional custody support for RLUSD in Dubai. That service is separate from the Privy partnership and serves eligible institutional clients rather than customers using embedded wallets in consumer applications.
