Redmi will launch the Redmi 17 5G in India on September 3, 2026. The company has already begun confirming key specifications ahead of the launch, including the processor and battery capacity. This gives buyers a fair idea of what the phone will offer, even before the official unveiling.

Redmi has confirmed that the Redmi 17 5G will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chipset. The phone is expected to pair this with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, a combination usually seen in budget and mid-range devices. Redmi has also teased a 120Hz display, though the exact screen size and panel type remain unconfirmed. Leaks so far point towards an IPS LCD panel.
Battery life is a strong selling point for this phone. The Redmi 17 5G will come with a 7900mAh battery, a large capacity for its segment. It will support 45W fast charging along with 22.5W reverse wired charging, and Redmi is expected to include a charger in the box, unlike many rivals who now sell chargers separately.
On the camera front, the phone will carry a dual-camera setup led by a 50MP primary sensor. An 8MP front camera has been lined up for selfies and video calls, a fairly standard choice for this price range.

The Redmi 17 5G will be available in three colours: Eternal Orange, Absolute Black, and Endless Blue. The orange variant is expected to feature a vegan leather finish, giving it a slightly premium look compared to the other two.
Redmi has not revealed the price yet. Leaks suggest the phone could be priced below Rs. 25,000 in India, placing it directly against mid-range 5G phones from OnePlus, Samsung, and Poco. More details on the display, speakers, and other specifications are likely to surface in the days leading up to the September 3 launch.
