Ubisoft has confirmed that Rainbow Six Mobile will shut down on January 15, 2027. The mobile shooter title was released in February 2026, after years of development and testing. In comparison to the efforts put into making the game, its lifespan is too short. In a community post, the Rainbow Six Mobile team has announced, “There’s no easy way to put it: we have made the difficult decision to sunset Rainbow Six Mobile. The game will remain available until January 15, 2027. The next season will be released as planned next week.”

Players can continue playing until that date, and the next season is still expected to arrive as planned. Ubisoft said the decision is part of its long-term plans, but it did not give a clear reason for the closure.

The shutdown has left players with questions about their saved progress, paid items, and rewards. Ubisoft has not yet confirmed whether players will get refunds for purchases or unused in-game currency. The gaming giant hasn’t even mentioned whether progress or rewards can move to another game. The company has promised to share more details in the coming weeks; until then, players should follow official updates before spending more money on the game.

Players can keep using their accounts as long as the servers are online. However, once the game shuts down, they will no longer be able to play or access its online features. Ubisoft has not said if any player data or rewards will be saved for future use. A refund plan for paid items and unused currency is also yet to be announced.

How PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile Compare

The closure also raises questions about what helps a mobile shooter last. PUBG Mobile has built a large player base through battle royale matches, regular events, and new seasonal content. Call of Duty Mobile offers multiplayer fights, ranked matches, and battle royale gameplay. Both games took time to build a huge player base that keeps the active player count stable.

Rainbow Six Mobile took a different path. It focused on team tactics, special operators, and careful planning. Its shutdown shows that a popular name does not always lead to long-term success in mobile gaming.
