OnePlus has opened its ColorOS 17 beta program in India for five phones: the OnePlus 15, OnePlus 15R, OnePlus 13, OnePlus 13R, and OnePlus 13s. The aim of the program is to offer selected users a chance to try the software before its wider global rollout. Notably, the models that run on Android 17 are eligible for this beta test.
Reports suggest the applications have been running since October 9 and will close on October 12. The global launch of ColorOS 17 is planned for October 13. Only eligible Indian models can join, and each phone must run a supported software version.
To apply, users need to open Settings, go to About device, and tap the Up to date banner. Next, they should open the three-dot menu, select Beta program, and follow the steps on the screen. Users must wait for approval before they can install the beta. OnePlus also asks them to back up their data, keep the phone with at least 30% battery, and free up 4GB of storage. Since this is an early version, some users may face app crashes, battery drain, heating, or slow performance.
If a user has any of the eligible models, they can apply for the beta test. One thing to note here is that carrier-locked models, including those sold through T-Mobile and Verizon, won’t be able to join the beta test.
The beta test will help OnePlus identify the bugs that the in-house testers have missed. Once pointed out, these issues will be easy to resolve before the global launch. The users who will be selected for the test must report the issues by dialing *#800#. Alternatively, they can go to Settings and click on Help and feedback to state the issues they have noticed.
During the test, fast battery drain, app crashes, overheating, and slow performance must be reported if users face them. Users should also flag apps that fail to open or features that stop working. Clear reports about when and how an issue occurs can help the team find the cause. This feedback is important for better battery life, app support, and system stability.
