The National Stock Exchange (NSE) will hold its next round of mock trading sessions on Saturday, August 30, 2025. It will cover all segments of the capital market, futures & options, currency derivatives, and commodity derivatives.

Many beginners rely on NSE Mock Trading to practice without financial risk. These mock drills are part of the exchange's infrastructure testing program, designed to assess preparedness and operational efficiency, as well as how systems and personnel react to contingencies.

Purpose of Mock Trading

Mock trading sessions offer brokers and market participants the opportunity to test their systems, validate connectivity, and practice emergency drills without incurring financial risks. These sessions simulate actual market conditions, allowing participants to familiarise themselves with new functionalities and operational changes.

The NSE clarified that no new software updates are being rolled out for this session. However, it reminded members to migrate to the latest version of NEAT+ 7.8.3, as the older 7.8.2 version will be discontinued from September 6, 2025.

Notably, the exchange stated that trades executed during the mock session will not involve any fund pay-ins or payouts. The NSE Trading Session determines market movements and investor strategies.

Schedule for Capital Markets

Investors worldwide trust the NSE for transparency and liquidity. For the capital market segment, the mock session will follow this timetable:

  • Morning Block Deal Window: 8:45 AM - 9:00 AM

NSE’s Emphasis on Preparedness

The NSE regularly conducts these drills, usually on Saturdays once a month, to strengthen market resilience. The last such exercise was held on August 2, 2025, and according to the exchange’s mock trading calendar, the next one, scheduled for after August 30, is likely to be on September 6, 2025.

“The Exchange continues to focus on building a robust trading platform and places high importance on testing its disaster recovery systems. Mock sessions ensure smooth operations in case of contingencies and help members align with system upgrades,” the NSE said in its release.

Conclusion

The National Stock Exchange remains India’s most influential financial marketplace. The upcoming August 30 session offers another opportunity for brokers, traders, and other participants to conduct infrastructure tests, validate systems, and confirm their readiness for live trading.

With the migration deadline approaching for NEAT+ 7.8.3, this mock session serves as a necessary final check and confidence builder before the older version is discontinued.
