The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) on Tuesday celebrated its 66th Foundation Day in New Delhi, with innovation, inclusiveness, and educational research as the highlights of the event.
The Union Minister for Education, Pralhad Joshi, speaking at the function, highlighted that NCERT should strive to be an innovative, inclusive, and research-oriented institute. He emphasized the need to prepare the students for a dynamic world.
Joshi also stated that mission-mode revision is being undertaken for Class 10 to 12 textbooks.
The Education Minister said NCERT has already introduced new textbooks for Classes 1 to 9 in line with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). Work on textbooks for senior classes is currently underway.
“NCERT’s role is crucial in supporting the vision of a Viksit Bharat by creating a strong education system and nurturing skilled, responsible, and globally competitive citizens,” Joshi said.
The revision of textbooks for Classes 10 to 12 comes as the education system moves toward implementing the NCF and adapting classroom learning to changing technological and social needs.
Joshi said the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence has made it necessary for textbooks and teaching methods to evolve. The changes, he said, should help students understand AI and use the technology responsibly.

He further emphasized the need to raise parents’ awareness of their children’s digital behavior so they can provide the right guidance.
The focus on AI shows the increasing use of technology in classrooms while also emphasizing responsible technology use and digital awareness among students and parents.
NCERT is also trying to increase the availability of learning material in Indian languages. According to Joshi, the organization is trying to publish textbooks from Classes 1 to 8 in all 22 languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
The council is also developing 121 language primers, including 93 languages spoken by tribes. This will help make education inclusive and provide learning materials to students from various linguistic communities.
On the occasion of Foundation Day, Joshi inaugurated new facilities, including the Robotics Learning Center, Translation Lab, and Television Studio.
All these announcements show NCERT’s commitment to technology, multilingual education, research, and inclusivity in its efforts to develop learning materials for the next generation of classrooms.
