Meta launched Muse, a personal AI agent, on September 8, 2026. Muse can send emails, book travel, and complete everyday tasks for users through the Muse app or WhatsApp. The company built it to help people finish real-world chores with less effort, and it is powered by Muse Spark, Meta's most capable model yet for agentic tasks.
Muse works like a regular chat, but it can go a step further and actually get things done. Users simply tell it what they want, and it builds a plan and works through the steps needed to complete it. It can open a browser, fill in forms, and carry out multi-step tasks even after the user closes the app.
Once something changes, or the task needs approval, Muse returns to check in. It will ask for permission before sending an email or making a purchase, so the user always stays in control. Meta announced the launch on X, calling Muse a personal AI agent that gets things done across every part of life.

The agent can also remember useful details shared by users. It can turn a saved Instagram recipe into a grocery list, or recall dietary preferences while planning a dinner party.
Security appears to be a big focus for Meta with this launch. Muse runs inside what the company calls a Secure VM, a dedicated computer in the cloud. Meta explained that Muse runs on its own machine, kept separate so no other agent can access it. That is where the user's data and connected service credentials are stored. Users can choose which apps Muse can access, limit what it does, disconnect services, or ask it to forget stored information entirely.

Muse is currently available only in the US, with a wider rollout expected soon. Meta plans to bring the assistant to its AI glasses lineup as the next step. Most day-to-day functions will remain free. Meta has said paid subscription plans will follow for users who want deeper access to advanced features. The company has not shared exact dates for either the glasses integration or the subscription rollout yet.
