Honkai: Star Rail has officially released information regarding the new permanent Honkai endgame mode, called Anomaly Arbitration, with the launch of Version 3.6. The show is now added with great content of high difficulty, posing a new challenge to players who have conquered the existing modes.

Anomaly Arbitration is designed to push the limits of roster strength and strategy; thus, the new mode introduces demanding combat content.

Official announcements and leaks reveal that Anomaly Arbitration will only unlock after players achieve full-star completion in three advanced modes. These modes are Memory of Chaos, Pure Fiction, and Apocalyptic Shadow.

This requirement ensures that only the best-prepared players can attempt the new challenges. Moreover, the mode involves a multi-stage setup that requires the player to use every kind of character.

New Endgame Mode Divides Honkai: Star Rail Player Base

Three sundry challenge stages will be presented, requiring the player to form distinct teams for each stage. After all three challenges have been cleared, the fourth and final stage becomes available.

Here, they can field whichever team they want from all the teams they formed in previous challenges. The big finish and real test of planning and team-building is thus an exercise in crafting depth and versatility, encouraging players to move past the reliance on a handful of meta characters.

Unlike endgame content, however, this Anomaly Arbitration mode will not reward players with Stellar Jade. Anomaly Arbitration players will receive non-premium rewards and cosmetic items. These include limited-time avatar frames, redeemable outfits, and other progression items.

While some fans lamented the lack of premium currency, others considered it a welcome opportunity to earn exclusive cosmetics and in-game items through skill-based progression. The announcement was met with divided opinions from the community. Some players praised the mode for giving late-game users more meaningful content, while others condemned the high entry requirements.

Therefore, Anomaly Arbitration has gained notoriety in the perception of most players as a ‘whale mode’; content seemingly designed for high-spending players with deep rosters. Questions around how to unlock Anomaly Arbitration in Honkai: Star Rail have sparked debate, as the requirement to fully clear three other challenging modes makes it inaccessible primarily to mid-level players.

Will Anomaly Arbitration Redefine Honkai's Endgame Experience?

Beyond that, there are even broader concerns about the direction of the game's meta. Some in the community fear that endgame challenges, such as Anomaly Arbitration, may force players to grind or pay heavily to keep pace.

Some feel the mode is optional and for a very specific audience to engage with, giving players a challenge at no cost to the majority of players who do not engage.

Honkai: Star Rail 3.6 launch is scheduled for late September 2025, with rollout occurring across North America on September 23 and Asia and Europe on September 24. More details will be revealed during the 3.5 livestream and in official teasers leading up to the update.

Honkai Anomaly Arbitration ushers in a new chapter in the endgame design of Honkai: Star Rail. It honors commitment and preparation, tests team diversity, and aims to create rewarding content for players who seek more than daily quests and event farming. Whether it ends up a fan favorite or remains a niche pick, its influence on high-level play is already turning heads - and it’s only just getting started.
