Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard has addressed a possible GTA 6 release on Switch 2, without confirming development plans. In an interview with Variety, Pritchard said Rockstar Games and publisher Take-Two Interactive would have to decide whether to bring the game to Nintendo's console.
GTA 6 launches on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, while Nintendo's platform remains unconfirmed.
Pritchard offered no release details or commitment, leaving Nintendo Switch 2 owners waiting for an official announcement.
Asked about a potential port, the Nintendo executive said, “That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time.” The response leaves the possibility open without confirming that the game is in development for the console.
A Nintendo Switch 2 version of GTA 6 could face technical challenges, given the game's expected scale and graphical demands. The console supports demanding titles, with Cyberpunk 2077 demonstrating how developers can adapt complex games for Nintendo hardware.
However, Rockstar may need significant visual or performance compromises to bring its upcoming open-world game to the system.
Rockstar has supported Nintendo consoles with selected releases, and Red Dead Redemption arrived on Switch 2 in 2025. Several Grand Theft Auto titles also reached the original Switch, although GTA 5 remains unavailable on that platform. These releases show previous support, but they do not guarantee GTA 6 compatibility.
Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have announced GTA 6 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Neither company has confirmed a PC version or a Nintendo Switch 2 port, leaving future platform plans uncertain. Strong preorder interest also points toward a major launch, although commercial success will not necessarily prompt additional versions.
Nintendo fans may have another major release to anticipate in November, with a reported Ocarina of Time remake scheduled for Switch 2 on November 5. The remake could strengthen the console's holiday lineup while GTA 6 remains exclusive to its announced platforms.
Until Rockstar or Take-Two shares further details, a Switch 2 release date, preorder information, and technical specifications remain unavailable.
