Samsung has announced the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is expected to happen on January 22, 2025. The event will present a new generation of smartphone models, the Galaxy S25 lineup: Galaxy S25, S25+, S25 Ultra, and a new addition, the Galaxy S25 Slim. The first three models are expected to be unveiled during this event; however, there are speculations that the S25 Slim may be released later in May.
According to the tipster Setsuna Digital, the Galaxy S25 Slim is expected to be available by May 2025. This timeline is by Samsung's strategy of releasing teasers of the following devices during different events. Rumours are based on the teaser of the Galaxy Unpacked event, where the shape of four devices is depicted on the poster. There have been speculations that Samsung may introduce the S25 Slim at the event, but its market availability may come after a few months.
This approach is similar to the previous brand initiative of the Galaxy Ring which was introduced during the S24 but was launched in the market only later in the same year. It is still uncertain whether the S25 Slim’s release has been delayed only in China or in the whole world.
Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Slim is rumored to be the slimmest model in the Samsung series, with an estimated thickness of 6.5mm. Although the phone is quite slim, it comes with a very large battery capacity of 4,700 to 5,000 mAh and uses silicon-carbon anode technology. This innovation makes it possible to design a thin and lightweight phone without increasing the size of the battery.
The gadget is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which shows it will be quite fast. The 6.66-inch AMOLED display that supports a 120 Hz refresh rate puts it in the same league as the other flagships in the series. The camera system is another feature that could also boast a 200-megapixel primary lens, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with 3.5x zoom.
The new Galaxy S25 Slim is anticipated to compete with Apple's iPhone 17 since both models are expected to have a slim form factor and the latest features. To keep consumer interest in 2025, Samsung plans to launch the Slim model to counter the iPhone later in the year.
This approach also enables Samsung to synchronize marketing and production and test market reception. The Galaxy S25 Slim emphasizes innovation and design to meet the needs of users who want power and portability.
Samsung has scheduled the Galaxy Unpacked event for January 22. During the event, Samsung is expected to reveal more information about the Galaxy S25 lineup.
