Epic Games Store is giving away TerraScape for free from October 8 to October 27. The game entered the early access stage on Epic Games Store in 2024. Later it was introduced to Steam as well. However, on both platforms, the game wasn’t a massive hit. Considering that a free promotion is probably the best chance to check the game out without spending a single dollar on it.

Notably, players who claimed the game during this period could keep them in their libraries after the offer ended. TerraScape is basically a city-building game set on floating islands. The gameplay allows players to build medieval towns and try to earn points by placing buildings in the right spots. The game uses cards to shape how players build and grow their towns. It also offers solo and multiplayer modes.

One of the biggest criticisms that the game has received is associated with its resource management mechanics. Players have mentioned that the randomized planet seeds and resource spawns are not balanced, which makes survival on some maps impossible. Some of these issues have already been fixed while some are still there bothering players.

Apart from TerraScape, PC players will access two more games for free starting from October 22. Home: A Unique Horror Adventure and Sker Ritual will be free to get until October 29. However, Steam currently has no promotional activities like this for players.

How Free Games Help Smaller Developers Reach More Players

TerraScape shows how free game offers can help lesser-known titles find a wider audience. Some players may never have heard of the game before seeing it on the Epic Games Store. A free offer gives them a reason to try it. If players enjoy the game, they may tell friends about it, post reviews, or follow the studio's next release. This can help bring more attention to the developer and its other games.

However, free offers don’t always lead to more sales. Still, they can help small developers reach new players and build interest in their work. For Epic Games Store, these weekly deals also give players a reason to return and check out what is new.
