Elon Musk’s Grok has caused a stir once again in the tech space with a new AI feature. The bot now allows users to take any image and turn it into a short video instantly. On November 9, Tesla and X (formerly Twitter) CEO announced the feature in a post on X, using a fun, viral example to illustrate what Grok AI is capable of.
In his post, Elon Musk wrote, “Long-press on any image to turn it into a video! Then customise the prompt to create whatever you can imagine.” He added that his own prompt was to “add a boyfriend and they transition into muppets.”
The post also contained a short video clip reportedly generated using Grok 4, which is X's built-in AI chatbot that was developed by Musk's company, xAI. The demonstration video showed how Grok can easily animate still images and respond to creative prompts, combining humor with sophisticated generative visual technology. Within hours of the post, users started trying it out for themselves and shared their own images with video transformations in their social media feeds.
Recently, xAI announced that Grok 4 is free and accessible for users globally, either from X or from its standalone iOS and Android apps. To be clear, free access is limited by both a prompt cap and the speed of responses.
The paid plans that offer additional options, greatly increasing performance, are expected and priced accordingly, e.g., SuperGrok will be roughly Rs. 700 (as opposed to the $8/mo equivalent price) in India, while a professional & Developers option, SuperGrok Heavy, is priced at Rs. 29,900.
Grok's new product is an indication of xAI's commitment to further establish the boundaries of AI creativity, merging entertainment, design, and automation into a single application. Grok is becoming one of the most popular AI tools in 2025, with free global access and more exciting features, comparable to other top AI models in terms of accessibility and engagement.
