Diablo fans have a new adventure to look forward to in 2027. While Diablo V is officially announced to be released in Spring 2029, there’s a board game based on the series that fans can enjoy in the meantime. Diablo: Unbound, the first officially licensed board game, will launch its crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound in the first quarter of 2027.
The game is developed by Blizzard’s partnership with Glass Cannon and allows gamers to fight monsters, explore dungeons, collect gear, and face powerful bosses. It will also support solo play. The most interesting part is that the board game will bring four different classes based on the series, including Barbarian, Rogue, Sorceress, and Paladin.
Each class will have its own skills and ways to fight. The game combines card building with dice rolls. Its main adventure has three acts, with three dungeon levels in each act. Players can complete side quests, hunt Treasure Goblins, and collect better gear. After finishing the main adventure, they can unlock Torment mode for more battles and new challenges. The full retail release date and price have not been announced yet.
The game aims to bring the feel of Diablo to a tabletop. Players can build their heroes, improve their skills, and hunt for stronger gear as they face tougher enemies. Each dungeon level is expected to take around 60 to 90 minutes. A full act may take three to four and a half hours. Players can also pause between sessions and return later.
The board game is expected to offer gamers a new way to explore Sanctuary with friends; especially longtime players will find it exciting. Along with familiar classes, monsters, bosses, and rare loot will appeal to a wider range of gamers who may or may not have played the original series. Solo play is also an option for those who prefer to take on the challenge alone.
Diablo: Unbound will not replace the video games, but it could keep fans busy while they wait for more news about the series. The Gamefound campaign is planned for early 2027. Until then, fans can follow the project for new details about gameplay and the items included in the game.
