Bungie released its final Destiny 2 patch on July 7. In a surprise patch note, the company has turned off Divinity, one of the most controversial weapons in the game. For a while, players have been complaining about serious gameplay issues, and the developers have announced that the weapon will be disabled until the bug is permanently patched.

The change surprised many players since Divinity is one of the most-used Exotic weapons in raids. Many teams depend on it during difficult boss fights. Without it, players will now have to find new ways to complete some of the game's hardest activities.

Divinity Removed After Players Report Major Bug

Destiny is at the end of its post-launch service. After the latest layoff on the Destiny 2 team, there are only a few resources left for the game, hinting at a possible shutdown.  However, the June 9 update has brought this problem, where players kept reporting that Divinity was not working as expected. Bungie looked into the issue but could not fix it right away. As a result, the company decided to disable the weapon for everyone.

Divinity helped Destiny 2 players by creating prominent weak points on enemies. This makes it easier for them to land critical attacks on bosses and end the battles faster.

With the weapon gone for now, many raid groups will need to change their usual setup. Some teams may use different Exotics, while others may try new strategies until Divinity returns. Bungie has not shared a return date, but it has confirmed that work on the fix is already underway.

Why Divinity Has Been So Important

Divinity has been one of the most trusted raid weapons in Destiny 2 for years. It is not famous due to its own damage, but rather because it strengthens the whole team.

One player usually carries Divinity while everyone else focuses on attacking the boss. The weapon creates a large critical spot, making it easier for the rest of the team to hit their shots. That simple feature has made it a common choice in many endgame activities.

Without Divinity, raid teams may need more practice to finish difficult encounters. Some players also believe this is a good chance to test other weapons that have not received much attention.

Other Exotics Bungie Has Disabled Before

This is not the first time Bungie has removed an Exotic because of a bug. The studio has done the same with several popular items over the years.

Bungie has often taken this step to keep the game fair while its team works on fixes. Players may have to wait for Divinity to return, but the studio says solving the issue is its top priority.
