South African retail group The Foschini Group (TFG) is investigating a cyberattack that disrupted information technology systems at its UK subsidiary, TFG London. The company identified the incident on October 11, 2026. Reportedly, this incident affected its fashion brands Hobbs, Phase Eight and Whistles.

TFG said, “It activated its incident response and business continuity plans immediately after identifying the incident. The retailer also engaged external cybersecurity specialists to contain the disruption and investigate its potential impact. It reported the incident to the relevant UK authorities.”

Stores Remain Open Despite IT Disruptions

TFG London further explained that its stores remain open and continue trading, although several IT systems remain unavailable. Some website functions across the affected brands are also expected to experience disruption. As of now the company works to restore its systems safely.

The retailer apologised to customers for the inconvenience and aims to provide further updates as more information becomes available. Customers may experience difficulties with certain online services while the investigation continues.

TFG did not announce a timeline for restoring all affected systems. Its immediate priorities include containing the incident, recovering IT operations, and assessing any potential exposure of sensitive information.

Customer Data Exposure Under Investigation

The company is examining whether the incident compromised personal or other sensitive information. It said there is currently no reason to believe that customer payment information is at risk.

The company said, “It would notify relevant individuals or organisations if the investigation establishes that their information was compromised. It has not confirmed any wider customer data breach.” The attack comes amid renewed cybersecurity concerns across the UK retail sector.

Fashion retailer Asos recently reported unauthorised access to some personal information, including customer names and contact details. The latest case highlights the operational risks retailers face when cyber incidents disrupt digital infrastructure.
